Wrong Focal Point

Sometimes I don't have time to manually focus, as I am not a photographer, I'm a soldier. I can't be messing around with my camera when I'm supposed to be paying attention.

I grabbed this picture real quick, and the moment I shot it, I saw by the focal point indicators that It chose the gun instead of the background. I didn't have time to switch to manual, so I left it. In the end, I really like how it turned out. The gun does have more detail, and the sky just acts as a backdrop.
